Oncology / Hematology

Mackinac Straits Health System provides Oncology, Hematology and Infusion Services.  Edward Smith, M.D. is a board certified hematologist, oncologist who provides care in the diagnosis, management and treatment of cancer and blood disorders.  Deb Griffin, AOCNP is a nurse practitioner who also treats and coordinates care with Dr. Smith.  They manage the medical component of cancer treatment including chemotherapy, and work closely with other specialist, especially surgeons, pathologists and radiation oncologists in planning and administering the most appropriate therapy.

In addition to oncology and hematology services, we coordinate infusion services for a wide variety of diagnosis along with your specialist.  Our staff includes oncology certified nurses with extensive experience in chemotherapy, bio therapy and a wide range of infusional medications, including but not limited to IV antibiotics, medications for Crohn’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoporosis.

Mackinac Straits Infusion Center patients receive care in a six chair outpatient center in a pleasant surrounding.
